Best Dinner Out in 2008!

Amber Bistro restaurant owner and PHE parent Eric Janssen donated an all-inclusive dinner for four to the auction last year. I had heard great things about Amber Bistro so it was on my list of items I was hoping to win at last year's auction. Excitedly we won and here's our report back:

The four of us fully enjoyed all that Eric and his restaurant had to offer! It is truly the perfect balance of great food, location, ambiance and staff. Let me count the ways....
  1. Great atmosphere! Both chic and cozy, yet open and airy with a wall of windows, earthy colors, and great lighting.
  2. The menu...we loved everything! Truly every item was followed by oohs and ahhs. The food is sooooo good we still talk about that dinner 7 months later. We had a halibut that was to die for.
  3. Drinks! We started with cocktails from the full bar and then Eric who is a certified sommelier and his well trained staff guided us the rest of the night with fantastic regional wines.
  4. Excellent staff! Eric's staff was excellent in regards to the menu, service and wines. One thing that has stuck with me is how complimentary our waiter was of Eric on his management of the restaurant but also that Eric strives to gives back to his employees by training them in running a restaurant and in wines.
  5. Friends! A great evening of food & wine is all the better when shared with the best of friends!
A big thanks to Eric, the staff & chef at Amber Bistro! Honestly it was our best dinner out in 2008. You too can help thank Eric for his donation to PHE by visiting Amber Bistro in Danville. A date night or with friends you can't go wrong.

P.S. complimentary valet parking too!

IMAGINE...$1400

IMAGINE - this piece of art work is the brain child of PHE parent Debbie Shess. She worked with 30 4th graders to create this amazing piece of art work. A canvas was divided into 30 squares, each 4th grade created their own mini-art piece and then Debbie assembled them all back together again. PHE parent Roger Nash created a custom steel frame and Tap Plastics donated the plexi-glass cover. Truly...the whole is greater than it's parts!

This original art piece was a hot commodity during the live auction last year. It was quite a bidding war and the closing bid was $1400. Lisa Powell and her family are the proud owners of this great piece of art work.
